The St. Clair County Library on Wheels, also known as the bookmobile, provides mobile library services to areas that may have difficulty accessing a physical branch. The new service, which begins on December 10, 2025, at the Cottrellville Township Hall, offers a variety of resources. Services and items available on the Library on Wheels include:
Borrowing Materials: A collection of approximately 3,000 items, including books for all ages, games, and movies (DVDs/audiobooks).
Internet Access: The vehicle functions as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, providing free internet access to help bridge the digital divide.
Library Cards: Visitors can sign up for a St. Clair County Library System (SCCLS) library card on-site.
Returns: A drop box is available for returning items borrowed from any SCCLS branch.
Staff Assistance: Friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to help with material selection and information.
The goal of the bookmobile is to expand access to library services and engage residents in reading and learning activities throughout the county.
